The 20th International Concours d'Elegance Automobile in Schwetzingen reached its climax at 4:46 p.m. when the Best of Show 2024 rolled onto the awards stage in front of Schwetzingen Castle: Bugatti Type 57C Atalante, 1937 - A. Wetz

The winner of the prestigious "Best of Show" title, awarded by an international jury based on FIVA criteria, is this outstanding 1937 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante. The "C" stands for "Compresseur," meaning supercharger.
The Atalante was a pure two-seater and was only offered in 1937. It was considered the sportiest version of the 57 series at the time and can be seen as the equivalent of today's Bugatti Chiron. Its straight-eight engine, with 3,257 cc displacement, produces around 165 hp at 5,500 rpm, thanks to the Roots supercharger. Weighing just 1,100 kg, it was one of the lightest luxury sports cars of its era. A particular highlight of this example, one of only 95 ever built, is its exceptionally well-preserved original paint, which shifts from a warm wine red to a muted reddish-brown depending on the light. The four-speed gearbox allows the car to reach a top speed of up to 180 km/h.
